Can Soft Skills be taught or learned?

A lot of people often ask if they can be taught soft skills or learn about them. Sometimes when an individual is weak in a particular skill, they can improve themselves by learning more about it. There is training available for those who want to learn about them. They need to be practiced and require participation.

According to Forbes.com, a great deal of evidence suggests that soft skills can also be boosted via focused training interventions.

There are online platforms that give training on soft skills like teamwork, problem-solving and many others. Soft skills can be improved with the right training.

Heide Abelli, senior vice president for product development at Skillsoft says, “Anyone can learn power skills, regardless of their personality,” she says. “True, someone may never be a rockstar at a particular skill, but they can get competent at it, so at least they’re not doing damage to the organization.”

No matter how you look at it, soft skills are as important as technical skills in the workplace.

Employees Are Quitting Instead of Giving Up Working From Home

Workers are quitting their job instead of giving up working from home. One such worker is Portia Twidt, 33, who lives in Marietta, Georgia.

She’d taken the position as a research compliance specialist in February, enticed by promises of remote work. Then came the prodding to go into the office. Meeting invites piled up.

The final straw came a few weeks ago: the request for an in-person gathering, scheduled for all of 360 seconds. Twidt got dressed, dropped her two kids at daycare, drove to the office, had a brief chat, and decided she was done.

“I had just had it,” said Twidt.

While companies from Google to Ford Motor Co. and Citigroup Inc. have promised greater flexibility, many chief executives have publicly extolled the importance of being in offices. Some have lamented the perils of remote work, saying it diminishes collaboration and company culture. JP Morgan Chase & Co.’s Jamie Dimon said at a recent conference that it doesn’t work “for those who want to hustle.”
